Sometimes a conversation has run its course on one post while the rest of your site is still happy to hear from readers. You can close comments on that single post, and leave every other post exactly as it is. ## Before you start - You're logged in to your site's dashboard. - You have permission to edit the post you want to close. - You know which post the conversation is on. ## Steps ### Step 1: Open the post's Quick Edit In the dashboard, open **Posts** to see your list of posts. Hover over the post you want to close and click **Quick Edit**. The post's settings open right there in the list, so you never have to leave the page. ![Open the post's Quick Edit](https://wordpress.supportpages.io/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6MTAwOTcsInB1ciI6ImJsb2JfaWQifX0=--450aec171f776eb58427dc7fe848f2f0c6fb3041/block_open-quick-edit.png) ### Step 2: Turn comments off for this post Clear the **Allow Comments** box, then click **Update**. Comments are now closed on this post — the comment form disappears from it, and your site-wide comment settings carry on untouched for everything else. If the conversation starts back up later, open **Quick Edit** again, tick **Allow Comments**, and click **Update** to let readers back in. ![Turn comments off for this post](https://wordpress.supportpages.io/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6MTAwOTgsInB1ciI6ImJsb2JfaWQifX0=--2b51ac66afe5a48f911e7f9d176d83337a7afdd9/block_turn-off-comments.png) ## Good to know - Comments that are already on the post stay visible — closing comments only stops new ones from being added. - This change applies to this one post. Every other post on your site keeps its usual comment settings. - Nothing is deleted, so you can reopen the conversation at any time from the same **Quick Edit** panel. ## Summary Open **Posts**, click **Quick Edit** on the post, clear **Allow Comments**, and click **Update**. That single post is now closed to new comments while the rest of your site stays open for business.
